The Mission

Teton Assisted Living is dedicated to providing exceptional senior care and housing that enriches and celebrates the lives of our residents. Our staff, programs, and facilities are committed to respecting the dignity, independence, individuality, and choices of our seniors.

Clients

The target clients are seniors living in and around Teton County, Wyoming, who need assisted living health care or senior family members of local residents, who need the same care and wish to move to the senior assisted living facility to be close to their families. Seniors residing in assisted living are much happier when their lives are enriched by regular visits from families and friends, and they have opportunities to engage in family events such as holidays, birthdays, weddings, and graduations and other school or sporting events. Most seniors wish to remain in the community they call home and continue to be valued members of the multi-generational society. More than 20% of the Teton County population is over 60 years old.

Assisted Living Facility

The vision for a senior assisted living facility includes a state-of-the-art, affordable, sustainable, safe building and grounds, appropriately sized for the Teton County market. The facility will reflect the needs identified by a consultant completing a local market analysis. The facility will include some workforce housing to ensure adequate staffing. Ideally, the facility would be located close to the Town of Jackson, park and recreation facilities, St. John’s Medical Center, Central Wyoming College, and along current public transportation routes.

Business Model

The senior assisted living facility would ideally operate as a non-profit, public-private partnership supported by client revenue and philanthropic donations. The ideal partnership would include Teton County, and the Town of Jackson, The Senior Center of Jackson Hole has supported the initial start-up for this initiative. Teton Assisted Living is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. There are seven Board Members. The non-profit status will reduce the operating budget and allow philanthropic support.

Assisted Living Program

Residents of the senior assisted living facility should expect state-of-the-art Assisted Living programming that engages them and enriches their quality of life. Clients would be offered several levels of health and personal care, dependent on their individual needs. On-site physical and occupational therapy would be available. Assistance with normal daily activities may include help with medication, dressing, or bathing. Chef-prepared menus would be of dining quality that meets each client’s nutritional requirements. Staff would be available 24/7 to assist as needed, especially with personal emergencies or regional emergencies. Local trips for shopping, recreation, and medical care would be available. Internal and external community and family engagement will be strongly supported. Assisted Living provides a lower level of care than skilled nursing (Sage Living).

Senior Continuum of Healthcare

Assisted Living is one step along the continuum of senior healthcare and housing. The senior assisted living facility would fulfill the current gap in this care. Ideally, seniors are able to remain in their homes with family or with some assistance in an Independent Living Facility. As seniors age, they may require a higher level of healthcare at the Assisted Living level. This may include seniors who may no longer be able to live at home due to stairs, non-accessible bathrooms, or the inability of family members to provide necessary care. Clients may have increased falls or be unable to cook and clean for themselves. They may need assistance with dressing, bathing, or help with medications. Many will no longer drive themselves. This is the missing gap in Jackson Hole. Sage Living at St. John’s Hospital provides a Skilled Nursing facility, which is the next higher level of care.
